As a Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of this medical practice that makes house calls for homebound patients. We provide professional, customer-focused service for our patients while performing a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication. The medical assisting position requires multi-talented individual with medical experience who can maintain a friendly, professional atmosphere while keeping on task. We provide service to Hernando, Pasco, and Pinellas. If you are reliable, dedicated, energetic, happy, fast-paced yet detail-oriented this is a good position for you.

Tasks
  • Answering phones and assisting with handling medical service related telephone calls
  • Interview patients and document basic medical history, update patient charts
  • Organize and schedule appointments
  • Update and file medical records and insurance reports which requires:

Prepping patient visit notes, scribing practitioner findings, Oversite, rescheduling etc.

Email and Fax Inbox filing and management

Uploading to charts from wound and foot care reports

Scanning and uploading documents

  • Arrange laboratory services and upload results to patient charts and notify practitioner of positive results that need action.
  • Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms
  • Track hospitalized patients daily and file report with Practitioner
  • Responsible to provide basic patient care assistance to the APRN when mobile

Brings equipment needed for visit into home, assists with setup, breakdown, and sanitizing

Records and documents vital signs, patient weight and height

  • Assists with treatment plans, treatment plan reviews, outcomes, medication authorization overrides, follow-ups and referrals
  • Monitors and maintains inventory and equipment for date and sanitization
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Prepping Home Care oversight reviews (in office)
  • Assisting biller with phone calls to resolve billing issues (in office)
  • Assisting biller to clear “paid” invoices (in office)
  • Ensuring compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
Requirements

This position requires being adaptable, good flexibility and communication. You may be switching between practitioners or locations during the week or between days. Tasks will vary according to location, patient and office needs.

  • Experience preferred but not required, willing to train suitable candidate with a basic understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding, procedures
  • Reliability and punctuality a must.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination etc.) and willingness to follow them at all times
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team is imperative. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, and customer service skills.
  • Responsible and compassionate
  • Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Patience with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Social perceptiveness and service-oriented
  • Have a high school diploma is a must
  • CMA Certification a plus
  • BLS / CPR certification a must

  • Familiarity with electronic medical health care record system.
  • Level 2 background check required
  • Drug testing required
