**BASIC SUMMARY**: A technical position within the Department of Pathology focusing on core functions of pathology sample generation, imaging, and image analysis. Scientist will design, initiate, oversee and participate in pathology projects of diverse scope both independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a regulated environment. Scientist will understand and implement scientific principles and concepts of pathology/histopathology/imaging/image analysis, and develop and refine strategies as part of clinical/preclinical assessment of various treatment modalities.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Familiarity with and demonstrated performance of methods/techniques related to pathology technology programs, including some combination of the following: standard/fluorescent/confocal imaging, image analysis, scanning electron microscopy, IHC/IF staining, cell based programs.
- Collaborate with CBSET pathologists, scientists, technicians, data analysts and study directors on non-GLP and GLP projects including generation, presentation and reporting of study data.
- Collaborate with study sponsors and maintain client relationships by serving as primary point of contact and data delivery for external projects.
- Assist with development of appropriate scopes of work, and associated budgets, timelines and deliverables.
- Participate in study-specific pre-initiation meetings; and suggest courses of action for data collection enhancements or protocol edits, as well as contracts.
- Report and interpret study findings, generate image panels, perform quality data/analysis/ reporting in compliance with applicable guidelines.
- Assume lead role in investigations, publications, posters and abstracts.
- Coordinate and communicate with participating departments, sponsors and outside vendors to help ensure timely delivery, organization and generation of the data/report.
- Troubleshoot, maintain and resolve equipment issues, including replacement or procurement of instruments to foster development of company and client based expectations.
- Train and mentor junior team members and develop a training plan for the unit(s).
- Perform other related duties as required i.e. routine histology, gross pathology/ necropsy procedures and techniques.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:Advanced degree in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience
- **Education/Experience**_: 0-1 yrs. experience with a PhD, Veterinary or Pathology Degree; 3-5 yrs experience with a Master’s Degree; Veterinary or Pathology Degrees5+ years experience with a Bachelor’s Degree.

Multiple years of experience in relevant lab environment with demonstrated ability to work and generate data independently.

Strong technical (hand-on) background in pathology-related field, preferably in a pharmaceutical or contract laboratory environment.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**:

- Must be able to perform laboratory procedures, which require, talking, hearing, standing or sitting for long periods of time, entering data into a computer, using appropriate instruments, reaching with hands and arms, working in narrow spaces, and wearing safety equipment (PPE) according to OSHA regulations and company standards.
