- The Finance and Operational Analytics Team is an integral element of the Business Affairs team and serves to create, maintain, and continuously improve the William & Mary physical environment to enable excellence in teaching, research, and public service.**Position Summary**
- The Operations Analyst will play a pivotal role in harnessing the power of data to drive strategic business decisions and process improvements across the Business Affairs organization. Leveraging AWS cloud services, this individual will develop and deploy ETL pipelines alongside sophisticated ML models. Utilizing open-source Python libraries, including pandas, numpy, matplotlib, and scikit-learn, the Operations Analyst will support the Operational Analytics team in the critical examination and re-engineering of business processes within Business Affairs and across Finance & Administration as applicable. Leveraging data visualization tools like Power BI, the objective is to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency through the championing of automation and machine learning technologies.- In this role, the Operations Analyst will employ advanced analytical techniques to deliver actionable insights that inform the strategic direction and operational tactics of Business Affairs, ultimately contributing to the department’s overarching goals to support William & Mary’s strategic vision.- The Operations Analyst’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate these into sophisticated predictive models. Utilize AWS cloud services for the development and deployment of machine learning models that drive enhanced business decisions.
- Architect and translate complex data sets into intuitive visualizations and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, ensuring the accessibility of insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Develop and present reports and dashboards that enable stakeholders to make informed decisions based on robust analysis of data trends and facts. Train end-users on the effective utilization of these tools to foster a data-informed culture.
- Recommend and support the implementation of re-engineered business processes and system modifications to optimize operational performance.
- Advocate for and teach data management and governance best practices across all units, contributing to the overall data literacy and analytical maturity of the organization.

**Conditions of Employment**
- This position requires additional hours beyond the typical work week, including occasional overnight and weekend work as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.**Essential Designation**

- Faculty or Staff: 12 month**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and or experience containing a STEM component such as mathematics, computer science, etc.
- Advanced Programming Skills with proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, including experience with scripting and automation of data processes.
- Hands-on experience with data manipulation tools** **using libraries like pandas and numpy for data manipulation and cleaning.
- Data visualization expertise with familiarity with data visualization libraries such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, and Power BI, enabling the translation of complex data insights into understandable visual formats.
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and predictive modeling techniques, including linear regression, logistic regression, and time series analysis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative work ethic.
- A passion for learning new data science techniques and staying updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
