Church Song Leader and Pianist Job Description
JOB TITLE: Song Leader and Pianist
SUMMARY: All Peoples Gathering Church is seeking a dedicated worship leader to lead the congregation in music and song during our Sunday worship services. We seek a worship leader who will foster an inspiring, blended style of music with a multi-generational and multi-cultural appeal. The music style at All Peoples is a mixture of gospel music rooted in the Historical Black Church, modern praise music, and traditional hymns. We encourage congregational participation in music ministry and have a number of congregants who are passionate about music at a variety of skill levels and instruments.
All Peoples Gathering Church is a multi-cultural, multi-racial, economically diverse congregation rooted in Milwaukee's Harambee neighborhood. We are part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
PAY: $200-$250 per service, depending on experience. This position DOES NOT offer benefits.
WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time. Work hours include Sundays 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and Christian holiday worship services that fall outside Sunday worship and occasional additional special events.
REPORTS TO: The pastor. In the absence of a pastor, the council president.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience singing and leading a diversity of musical styles in a church setting
- Strong singing and instrumental skills (piano)
- Experience playing with other musicians
- Proficient in reading music
- Ability to sight-read, play by ear, and improvise when appropriate
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Play music and lead singing at all regularly scheduled worship services
- Work with the pastor to select music for regular and special worship services
- Bring new resources, creativity and ideas to the worship life of the church
- Rehearse with other musicians in the church as scheduled
- Provide music for weddings and funerals, if requested by family
**Job Type**: Part-time
Pay: $200.00 - $250.00 per week
Schedule:
