**Site Superintendent**

R.W. Mercer Co. is a family-owned construction and service company headquartered in Jackson, Michigan with seven locations - six in Michigan and one in Indiana. The company operates in three distinct areas of construction: petroleum contracting and service, general contracting, and electrical. In each area, R.W. Mercer provides a turn-key approach that includes planning, design, construction, and installation as well as service, monitoring, and maintenance.

A General Construction Superintendent at R.W. Mercer is responsible for the execution of all aspects of installation and construction on-site. Construction of infrastructure requires constant supervision to ensure that the construction is happening as per plan. In addition, there is a need for keeping watch on the construction material on site and further requirements. They are a site superintendent who coordinates and manages all the activities on a construction site.

**REQUIEMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor.
- Perform manual work in preparing surfaces.
- Training, monitoring, assisting, and inspecting excavation, trenching, scaffolding, and ladders.
- Maintain a clean job site; pick up all tools & equipment and secure job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
- Monitoring and ensuring proper material handling and storage.
- Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety director, or HR manager.
- Able to prioritize assigned tasks, handle multiple tasks, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented and set high standards for accuracy.

- Ability to read scope of work, submittals, and blueprints.

- Skilled in hands-on installation of drywall and framing, finish carpentry, store fixtures/displays, acoustical ceilings, concrete patching, caulking, doors and hardware, flooring (carpet tile, base, ceramic tile, VCT, and LVT), bathroom accessories, and minor plumbing.
- Highly self-motivated with a strong drive to succeed and satisfy all customer internal and external.
- Proven track record of meeting deadlines and ability to pay close attention to important details of each project.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Procore (Project Software).
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with RWM employees, customers, and subcontractor representatives at all times. Communicates openly by listening and providing feedback.

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY**

Safety and Quality
- Site Supervisor and quality control of RWM and Subcontractor Crews.
- Responsible for all aspects of site safety, including conducting safety meetings. Work with PM and Field Operations Manager to ensure safety by subcontractor crews.
- Inspect jobs on a weekly basis or as needed for quality control, safety, and compliance with applicable rules, laws, and statutes.
- Promotes and creates a safe work environment, leads by example.
- Conduct Job Hazard Assessments, ensuring onsite safety through proper engineering & administrative controls & using PPE. Address any safety violations or other deficiencies.

Collaborates
- Review job schedule and cost breakdown with Salesman, Project Manager and Field Operations Manager prior to job start.
- Work together with Project Manager and Field Operations Manager to communicate scheduling needs: laborers, carpenters, technicians, materials, equipment, and subcontractors as required.
- Work with the Project Manager to coordinate pulling permits, sourcing subcontractors and staff, order materials, and schedule work to complete project on time and on budget.
- Subcontractor management - ensure their work is being performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and purchase orders. Work with Project Manager to ensure subcontractor accountability.
- Build relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Work with Field Operations Manager to maintain control over tools and equipment is required.
- Keep progress schedule current and communicate with Project Manager regarding updates to schedule.
- Communicate equipment, tool needs, and/or repairs to Field Operations Manager.

Leadership and Communication
- Properly layout the project, making sure proper grades are established and followed by RWM personnel on site and all RWM subcontractors.
- Setup office and equipment trailers as necessary and work with PM and Field Operations Manager to ensure that all permits, labor notices, safety rules & regulations are posted as required.
