Lab Technician

We are a fully integrated sand supply and services company, offering complete sand, logistics, storage, and management solutions to our customers with our in-basin trans-loading terminals and our smartsystem storage capabilities. We own and operate premium frac sand mines and related processing facilities in Wisconsin and Illinois, which have access to three Class I rail lines, allowing us to deliver products substantially anywhere in the United States and Canada.

The **laboratory technician **will maintain the normal function of the lab and sampling/testing equipment throughout the plant and will administer the plant’s quality control standard operating procedures.
The position will work under the supervision of the Lab Supervisor but will require taking direction from other Smart Sand managers. This position is based primarily at our Oakdale, WI facility.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Maintains hourly production samples and tracks production results for all production activities.
- Qualifies all rail samples. Tests plant feed, waste products, and dry plant products.
- Ensures proper upkeep of lab instruments and sampling/testing equipment throughout the plant.
- Obtains samples from various areas of the facility on a consistent basis. Including the Wet Plants.
- Maintains database of lab sample processing data.
- Maintains equipment that separates sand according to texture grade.
- Observes color of sand to define clay content and notifies supervisor when excess clay or equipment malfunction is detected.
- Follows API sampling and testing procedures.
- Have a general understanding of gradation and the steps taken to keep the product up to Company quality standards.
- Works cooperatively to comply with facility-wide environmental and quality management standards.
- Assists in keeping the plant up to company standards by completing workplace examinations, and communicating safety, environmental, production, and maintenance issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Education and Experience**
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
- MSHA training and experience are a plus.

- Must be a self-starter and work with mínimal supervision.
- Good judgment is required and the ability to work independently.
- Strong computer skills required.
- Must be detail-oriented.
- Must be able to prioritize.
- Must be adaptable and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have high safety standards for self and others.
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others.

Pay: From $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 - 48 per week
