**Position Summary**
- The Scientist will work closely with CBET staff to execute research projects focused on cell culture, fermentation, purification, and QA/QC. The individual will be expected to integrate into the team environment and work efficiently with dynamic workflows.
**Major Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Perform hands-on work in upstream, downstream, and analytical research activities in coordination with the CBET Contract Research Services team.
- Gather and organize data, assist in analyzing laboratory results, and communicate with CBET Senior Scientists about results.
- Contribute to the preparation of presentations and technical reports.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and cleanliness.
- Perform searches of scientific literature to find relevant information pertaining to current research projects.
- Guide students and interns on proper laboratory techniques and practices.

**Required Qualifications**

**Education and Experience**:

- Associate degree in related field (example - biotechnology) required

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Theoretical knowledge of cell biology, microbial growth, protein purification and common analytical techniques (SDS-PAGE, HPLC, ELISA, etc.)
- Proven communication skills, especially those relating to scientific communication, including verbal, written, and listening skills for recording, processing, documenting, and presenting data.
- Ability to adapt to change quickly and manage complex tasks/projects in a timely manner with a high degree of quality.
- Attention to detail and a desire to learn about new topics and techniques.
- Ability to think, work, and troubleshoot problems independently.

**Preferred Qualifications**

**Education and Experience**:

- Bachelor of Science or Master of Science preferred.
- Life science backgrounds and/or laboratory work experience preferred.

**Physical Demands**
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to stand and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
