**The Club**

Germantown Cricket Club (GCC) is a private club in an urban setting that offers a full range of athletic and social activities. GCC is the second-oldest surviving cricket club in the United States. The Club was a key player in the sport industry during the 19th century and was internationally ranked. In the 20th century, the club has played an important role in the history of tennis and squash. In the 21st century, the Club remains internationally recognized for its facilities and world class tennis and squash programs. The Manheim Campus, the present 14-acre site of the Club, was secured in 1890. The stately clubhouse was designed by the renowned architectural firm of McKim, Meade, and White and gained National Historic Landmark status in 1987. In 2004, GCC celebrated its 150th anniversary. During the sesquicentennial year, the Club completed 30 years of hosting the U.S.T.A. Senior Men’s Grass Court Championships, and hosted the U.S.T.A Senior Women’s Grass Court Championships, the International Tennis Federation Senior World Championships, and the World Squash Doubles Championships. Today the Club consists of 46 Tennis Courts, 24 of which are grass. The Club recently won the USTA outstanding facility award for its brand-new Clay Court facility with (9) Har-Tru courts, (6) Red Clay Courts, one Hard Court and one USTA Junior Court. In addition, the Club has four indoor courts for year
- round play. Finally, the Club has seven international squash courts housed in the historic Athletic Building, five of which are singles courts and two of which are doubles courts. The Club has a national reputation for promoting tennis and squash, with many in the program enjoying top ranking and entry in Division I programs. The aquatic complex features a 25-meter heated pool with a full-service snack bar. The Club also has four bowling lanes available for member usage and also private functions. The food and beverage services include casual and upscale elegant dining options. During the summer, the Club enjoys vistas overlooking the great lawn. Banquet facilities accommodate groups from 15 - 250, which provide the members with a wide range of social events.

**The Position**

The Membership Director at Germantown Cricket Club (GCC) is responsible for all aspects of new member recruitment, current member retention and external club membership offerings via social media. He or she lives GCC’s core values of Inclusion, Transparency, Trust, Respect, Collaboration and Fiscal Responsibility. The Director will be a visionary leader, working closely with the GM, Membership Committee and the Board to help set the vision for the future of GCC. A strong ability to work with teams, work closely with peers and communicate up and down will be key features of the Director’s leadership style. Must have a strong sales drive with a proven track record.

**CORE RESPONSIBILITIES**

**MEMBERSHIP**
- Responsible for introducing and expanding awareness of the Club as a premiere full-service private club in Philadelphia.
- Works with the GM & Membership Committee to develop and achieve new member growth as well as current member retention goals.
- Must foster and maintain relationships with current and prospective members as well as competitors, community leaders and industry peers.
- Responsible for gathering local and regional market intelligence and represent the Club effectively in the marketplace.
- Develop and manage a sustainable source of prospective members through strategic efforts to include; lead generation, outbound sales efforts, networking, and cultivating member referrals.
- Establish and maintain a robust and detailed database of prospective member and current members ensuring proper and useful information and demographics are captured and kept up-to-date and effectively leveraged to achieve membership retention and acquisition goals.
- Maintains an accurate record of all membership files, membership counts; provides written reports on a monthly basis.
- Ensures all department managers and staff are aware of new members and member prospects on a consistent basis. Acts as a leader and mentor to department leaders in the recruitment and retention of members.
- Conduct facility tours, entertain prospects and host awareness event for potential and current members.
- Plan and execute an effective new member orientation program that includes introductions to key staff and introduces all services and amenities to all new members.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with members, prospective members, management and staff.
- Listens to, and responds within 24 hours to the comments, requests and questions of the members and the staff of the club.
- Communicates with the customers and solicit input (good or bad).
- Participates on all committees related to membership as requested.
