The New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) is the largest school system in the nation, with nearly 1.1 million students and 135,000 employees, including over 75,000 teachers and an annual operating budget of over $24.0B. The NYCDOE is committed to creating a system of over 1,800 great schools.
Research-based educational policy and data transparency are essential elements of the NYCDOE. The Research and Policy Support Group (RPSG) is at the center of this effort as the primary source of data analytics and research for the NYCDOE. The RPSG conducts its own research and analyses to inform NYCDOE policy and programs and consults on and supports the analytic work of others using NYCDOE data.

**INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILIES**:

- Provide support to the Research and Policy Support Group (RPSG) across various research initiatives and administrative projects.
- Collaborate closely with the Data Request Committee within RPSG to streamline data request processes ensuring efficient and timely support for stakeholders.
- Assist in maintaining a centralized repository of documents, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records for easy retrieval and reference.
- Assist in migrating documents from legacy systems to new platform,
- Assist with the data request tracking system, ensuring efficient intake, processing, and fulfillment of requests.
- Support with implementing a categorization system for organizing and archiving study data.

**QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIAL SKILLS/AREA OF STUDY**:

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Enjoys detail-oriented thinking, works collaboratively and cross-functionally to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- Demonstrate interest in research, policy and education or related fields.
- Flexible, optimistic, creative, and committed to overcoming obstacles.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently
- Excellent communication, writing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Experience or working knowledge of the public sector and/or demonstrated interest in public education.
- Willingness to learn
