**Adventures in Learning Day Care Center**
**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**JOB TITLE: TEACHERS AIDE Ft/Pt Non Exempt**

**GENERAL SUMMARY**:
Responsible for assisting classroom teacher with the general supervision and management of children

**PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assisting in the planning and implementation of the daily program under the direction of the classroom teacher, i.e. lesson planning, small groups, parent questions
- Assisting in planning and preparing the classroom environment by gathering and organizing materials and equipment as required for learning, i.e. projects, circle time.
- Supervising the classroom when the teacher is not around, assist with training new teacher assistants, documenting parent comments/concerns.
- Helping with general housekeeping tasks (tables, chairs, centers, shelves, refrigerator, microwave, floors etc.)
- Assisting the teacher in any other activities or responsibilities
- Maintaining a professional attitude and loyalty to the school at all times.
- Treating all children, peers and parents with dignity and respect regardless of behavior, race, religions affiliation etc.
- Attending all staff meetings, recommended training programs conferences and program activities.
- Participating in professional organizations that work for the improvement of early education
- Supervise other areas as assigned i.e. office, library, music & movement/ gym etc
- Maintain and/or record assignments from time to time i.e. observations
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

**Skills**:
Must be at least 16 years old
Work requires maturity and emotional stability
Must be in the process of becoming professionally trained as a teacher of young children and meet the state of NJ licensing requirements for childcare
Work requires goo interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate with internal and external parents

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
Willingness and flexible in scheduling to accommodate the needs of school i.e. hours/lunch breaks
Willingness to relocate/transfer to another location/daycare
Willingness to substitute at any of the Daycares

**REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS**:
Reports to the teacher and Assistant Director/ Supervisor
Will be responsible for supervising the classroom in the absence of the classroom teacher.

**Education**:
18 years or older must have a high school diploma or GED valid
Full
- time employees must have a CDA certification, Associates, BA/BS or MA/MS

**HOURS**:
Full-time/Part-time non-exempt. Hours will need to be flexible but is expected that hours will generally coincide with the usual business workday with exception of parent meetings and workshops.

Pay is based on experience.
