Santa Anita Convalescent Hospital, a Skilled Nursing Facility, is looking for a full-time Activity Director
**Description**:The Activity Director is responsible for organizing and conducting an activity program for the residents that enriches the quality of their lives.
**Requirements**:
- Must have an Activity Director Certificate
- High school diploma or equivalent, age 18 or over;
- DOJ and FBI fingerprint clearances;
- Current First Aid certification;
- Health screening and negative TB test (must be less than 6 months old and can be completed within 7 days of hire) and will comply with all Federal, State and Licensing Regulations (Title 22 and Health & Safety Codes).
- Also, the responsible employee shall have had at least one year of experience in conducting group activities and be knowledgeable in evaluating resident needs, supervising other employees, and in training volunteers.
**Responsibilities**:
- Develop a written plan of monthly activities and create and publish a monthly or bi-monthly activities calendar for distribution within and outside the Community.
- Maintain department within yearly budgeted guidelines.
- Develop an activities program that encompasses the following: physical exercise, arts and crafts, entertainment, religious services and special events.
- Encourage resident participation in the activities.
- Set up and organize all activities and events.
- Interview new and existing residents to discover what their activity interests are and develop programs that fit the majority.
- Organize leisure time activities such as games, puzzles, movies, etc.
- Coordinate and conduct weekly and special outside activities including scenic drives, luncheon and dinner outings, shopping and banking trips, etc.
- Decorate the Community for special events, holidays and parties.
- Educate the residents through guest speakers or classes such as current events, travel, health and other related self-help topics.
- Coordinate entertainment for social events within the Community.
- Coordinate transportation scheduled with the driver(s).
- Arrange for religious services and/or coordinate transportation to services outside the Community.
- Develop a network of outside and resident volunteers to assist with activities and special events.
- Other duties as assigned by the Administrator.
