Serves a vital role in communicating, marketing, and connecting the department’s programs, events, services, and facilities to the local community. Responsible for communications, marketing, facility reservations, department website management, and office support.

**Job Description Summary**:
**EXAMPLES OF DUTIES**:

- Community Outreach, Marketing, and Communications- Coordinate sponsorship recruitment for department promotion pieces, special events, and recreation programs by developing packages and maintaining a database of current and potential clients to include advertising, naming rights, and corporate sponsorship program for department services and events.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive community outreach, advertising, and public relation plan related to department services to include the Community Center and park facilities.
- Create department press releases, public services announcements, and media advertising for department programs, services, and facilities to include the use of websites and social media.
- Special projects.
- Researches, collects, and maintains data on marketing efforts, communications, programs, events, etc.
- Events and Facility Reservations- Coordinate all facility reservations to include Community Center, athletic fields, park shelters and areas, community wide special events to include walks/runs, downtown events, and concerts.
- Develops and maintains accurate records of all facility reservation types for annual reporting purposes to include number of events by site, revenue and expenses related to each event.
- Coordinate special event requests and needs with various community organizations to ensure smooth execution of events.
- Develop weekly schedules for all facility reservations for distribution to City staff.
- Meet and communicate with customers to ensure clients have all appropriate forms, fees paid, facility layout plan finalized, and final details determined.
- Department Web Site Management- Leads and designs web pages for Parks, Recreation & Forestry department web site and is primarily responsible for developing graphic images and layout consistent with City and department standards.
- Office Support- Performs administrative assistant and office related duties.
- Maintain filing and record keeping system for all park facility & Community Center reservations, banner advertising reservations, special events, sponsorships, department web site updates, and other necessary information.
- Develop and maintain department photo library to include recreation programs, parks, and facilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Summary of Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:
**Knowledge**
- Knowledge of effective community outreach, marketing methods, practices, and techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of the Parks, Recreation, and Forestry programs, events, facilities, services, etc.
- Broad knowledge of the Oconomowoc community.
- Knowledge of all City and departmental policies and procedures with extensive knowledge of City communication and use of technology policies.
- Considerable knowledge, experience and proficiency with Internet, Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge and experience in office practices and procedures.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Ability to effectively and creatively market and evaluate the department’s programs, services, facilities, etc.
- Ability to use good judgment when publishing communications and marketing materials to ensure compliance with City policies.
- Strong typing, writing and copy-editing abilities and proficiency.
- Ability to prepare correspondence and reports.
- Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively.
- Ability to effectively communicate with elected officials, staff, and the public in both written and verbal form.
- Outgoing personality with strong interpersonal and social abilities. Ability to effectively make cold calls, establish relationships, and network.
- Ability to think quickly, maintain self-control, and adapt to stressful situations.
- Ability to use good judgment to effectively solve problems.
- Ability to plan work, establish priorities, delegate responsibility, and detect errors.
- Ability to effectively assist the public with questions, issues, and complaints.
- Ability to maintain an organized filing system for records.
- Ability to organize, plan, prioritize, and carry out office work with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to work events as needed including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong attention to detail.
