**Department Function**

The Makerspace Instructor will facilitate group sessions in the makerspace lab working with active participants in the CREDWorks: Employment and Training center. The facilitator will guide and teach participants on how to utilize various machines and equipment from T-shirt press, Screen-printing, CNC router, laser cutters and more. The facilitator will weave in both soft and hard skills for participants as they prepare for career readiness.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Create a portfolio of co-curricular educational activities in the design lab engaging a diverse group of stakeholders. The programs in the design lab will need to engage this community in a fun but low-barrier fashion that will both introduce them to making and educate them, while encouraging them to come back to the Design Lab.
- Advise participants in the Design Lab individually or through effective management both individually and in a group setting.
- Provide mentorship and guidance for participants. The Makerspace Educator and Design instructor would work with students to help them plan out their projects by giving them advice on tools, project milestones, and advice about potential academic and social impacts of their project.
- Train students on all equipment within the space, and create training guidelines for each piece of equipment such as 3D printer, wood saw etc.
- Teaching responsibilities, including existing design courses and foundational design courses as well as developing an advanced design thinking course

Lab management:

- Maintain the Makerspace equipment for functionality and safety., Manage inventory for all spaces within the Makerspace. This includes inventory purchases and updating software and equipment with relevant patches and updates.
- Advise on new equipment purchases, and upholding a working knowledge of what equipment and tools are becoming most useful or necessary.
- Work in partnership with the Senior Manager to manage the yearly budget and planned expenditures for the space.

**Experience and Qualifications**
- Managerial experience of a diverse group of stakeholders, faculty and campus partners
- Possess a passion for how making intersects with design, entrepreneurship and innovation.
- Committed to building upon existing curriculum and creating new and dynamic curriculum for Keller Center courses and for the Makerspace.
- Ability to transfer knowledge while motivating stakeholders growth in the fields of making, design, and innovation, while thinking creatively.
- Possess knowledge and experience with typical equipment found in design/Makerspaces such as 3D printing, large format printing and PCB/CNC mills.
- Comfortable with utilizing and teaching others the software’s associated with these technologies.
- Ability to work independently in a flexible environment.

**Educational Requirements**
- Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree or beyond preferred.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
