Must Love Cats
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Checking in patients for boarding
- Labeling belongings and medications
- Recording medication instructions in appropriate areas
- Washing dishes and bowls as well as litter boxes
- Cleaning and disinfecting cages as needed
- Feeding and providing fresh water to cats on schedule
- Frequent monitoring of the health and comfort of the cats as well as recognizing emergency situations and reporting any health concerns to appropriate personnel
- Documenting of all treatments and abnormal activity
- Assisting the receptionist when needed, to include answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking patients in or out for their appointments, and contacting clients for progress reports
- Assisting the doctors and technicians with restraining patients for various treatments
- Assisting team members with maintaining equipment
- Releasing animals to their owners as directed by the doctor or technician. Ensuring that every animal released is clean, properly groomed, and looking better than on arrival.
- Assisting the clients when necessary, transporting carriers, retrieving and/or carrying food or other supplies
- Hospital cleaning, including vacuuming, sweeping and mopping floors daily, refilling bottles of cleaning products, and performing laundry duties
- Taking care of garbage and recycling daily
- Minor property maintenance such as light painting, hanging shelves or artwork, etc.
- Maintaining landscape such as watering/trimming plants and keeping gutters free of leaves
- Updating hospital signage at doctor’s request
**Qualifications**:
- High school diploma/GED required
- Excellent listening and communication skills
- 1+ years’ experience working as a Veterinary Assistant a plus
- Comfort around cats required
- Experience with animal restraint a plus
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time as well as frequently walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching, or carrying up to 50 pounds.
This is a Full-Time position (30-40hrs/wk). Our hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30AM-5:00PM. While we are not open on the weekends, this position may involve occasional weekend hours to care for boarding cats.
