The director of nursing services shall be responsible for the direction, provision and quality of nursing services provided to clients, including the following:
- Providing administrative oversight of the facility's nursing services, and where appropriate, directly supervising the facility's nursing staff;
- Assisting the administrator of the facility in developing and maintaining written objectives, policies and procedures related to nursing services, developing an organization plan, and developing a quality assurance program for nursing services, and reviewing all nursing policies and procedures, mínimally, on an annual basis;
- In conjunction with the administrator and the governing authority of the facility, planning and budgeting for nursing services;
- Ensuring the coordination and integration of nursing services with other client care services to ensure continuity of care for each client;
- Ensuring that the facility complies with required nursing staffing patterns;
- Assisting in the development of written job descriptions for the nursing staff and assigning duties of the nursing staff;
- Participating in staff orientation and staff education activities, when applicable; and Participating in team conferences with the multidisciplinary team and the client care committee (if the facility chooses to establish a client care committee).
- Prompt attendance and Attends Daily Treatment Team Meetings
- Ensures safe staffing ratios according to state laws, board of nursing, and facility policy and procedures for patient safety. Maintaining nursing coverage; tracking staff nurses? attendance, and disciplinary action when necessary
- Recruitment, interviewing, and hiring new employees, along with the new hire on-boarding and training process.
- Management of staff nurses, and completing their annual evaluations, completing staff nurses? annual competencies, along with new hire competencies following the 90-day probationary period
- Daily Nursing Chart Audits to monitor compliance completion and evaluating the overall performance of the Nursing department and recommending improvements.
- Keep neat data records, Evaluate/Analyze data; Act on any compliance issues, failed audits, poor pharmacy inspections, and provide corrective plans for improvement.
- Manage all department medical supplies and medication orders with budgeting in place
- Planning and presenting nursing training, in-services, staff meetings, and mock codes Supervises all medical/Nursing staff.
- Monitors and assures continuing Quality Improvement and Performance Improvement Goals Monthly, Quarterly, and Annually.
- Always maintain confidentiality displaying a professional disposition towards fellow staff.
- Demonstrates ability to evaluate medical needs of the patient and work with a multi-disciplinary team to assist in facets of the recovery program relating to physical health.
- Attends all management meetings with the facility leadership team
- Maintains medical records, controlled medication ledgers, change of shift narcotic counts with on-coming and in-coming nursing staff.
- Ability to administer medications as indicated and monitor the detoxification process.
- Ability to provide documentation which reflects services for each patient in accordance with licensure standards.
- The ability to assess the medical and psychiatric needs of the patient determines the urgency of their needs and expedited treatment is required within the RN scope of practice.
- Demonstrates ability to take verbal orders from the medical provider, documents them in the patient record and carries them out accurately and professionally.
- Training and Evaluation of nurses with blood and urine phlebotomy orders, properly obtaining through training, ordering, labeling, and preparation for shipping.
- Follow all facility guidelines for any/all emergencies throughout the shift, including required documentation of emergencies through incident reports and medication error reporting and any other required reporting forms.
- If needed, Stays and works beyond scheduled shifts if needed to meet staffing requirements and/or needs of patient safety and facility and state laws.
- Promotes a culture of safety to ensure a healthy practice and living environment. Therapeutic interactions and positive peer support is the expected culture.
- Adheres to the agency?s infectious disease and universal precautions policies and procedures in accordance with department of health reporting required for specific diseases and infection prevention. Monitoring clients? progress.
- Expected to protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with Facility?s privacy policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principle of professionalism as a healthcare provider HIPPA and 42CFR pt 2. Failure to comply with Facility's policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of
