General Laborer

**Job Title: General Laborer Department: Field**

**Position Type: Full Time Hours: 40+**

**Job Summary**:About the general laborer will safely and efficiently remove and prepare rail to various sizes for pick-up.

**Duties/Responsibilities**:

- Adheres to all safety rules, guidelines, and codes.
- PPE must be always worn on railroad property, according to FRA, Federal Railroad Association
- Safely removing rail from inactive railroad
- Torching rail to various sizes /preparing rail for pick-up
- Immediately report malfunctioning equipment
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Required Skills/Abilities**:

- Familiarity with a torch, hand and power tools and standard equipment care
- Excellent hand-eye-foot coordination
- Ability to travel regularly; out for 3weeks home for 1 week and repeat

**Education and Experience**:

- Torch experience, minimum one year on the railroad
- Must have a valid driver’s license, clean Motor Vehicle Report, and insurable
- High school diploma or equivalent

**Physical Requirements**:

- Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
- Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Able to bend, lift, push, and pull, as necessary
- Able to lift to 75 pounds

**Salary and Benefits**

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
