The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) supports the Department by acquiring, distributing, installing, and maintaining Local Area Networks, personal computers, mainframe computers, software, and data communications networks. ITSD also plans and coordinates the implementation of advanced technology.

ITSD is in search of an experienced CISCO network engineer to serve as a Computer Specialist (Software) III, who will be tasked to implement and maintain network devices for the NYPD. As a network engineer, you will be responsible for installing/configuring CISCO network equipment such as switched, NCS routers, and firewalls. Seeking someone who is quick to troubleshoot issues within the full stack from physical to layer 7 issues. There will also be a need to enhance security posture though firewall rule implementation and adapting equipment to newly released security vulnerabilities.

Minimum Qualifications(2) A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six (6) years of full-time satisfactory software experience as described in “1" above, including one year in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project; or

Preferred Skills- Analyzing existing hardware, software, and networking systems.
- Creating and implementing repeatable network installation methods
- Testing and troubleshooting routed WAN using EIGRP/BGP/MPLS
- Resolving switching issues within LAN and campus networks
- Performing speed and security tests on installed networks.
- Upgrading/replacing hardware and software systems when required.
- Creating and presenting networking reports.
- Implementing Firewall rules as approved change tickets
