Job Description: CNC Swiss Operator

(40 hours per week)

Position: CNC Swiss Operator

Summary: As a CNC Swiss Operator, you will be responsible for operating a CNC Swiss machine to manufacture precision components and parts in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications. Your role involves monitoring cutting tools, loading materials, verifying critical dimensions with inspection equipment, and executing machining processes to produce high-quality products. You will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the CNC Swiss machine and contributing to the success of our manufacturing processes.

**Responsibilities**:

- Operation: Operate the CNC Swiss machine to perform turning, facing, boring, threading, and other machining operations on workpieces as per provided instructions and drawings.
- Workpiece Loading/Unloading: Safely load raw materials or workpieces onto the lathe's chuck or spindle, ensuring proper alignment, securing them for machining process, unloading finished parts, deburring, cleaning, and packaging finished parts.
- Tool Monitoring and Replacement: Monitor condition of cutting tools, inserts, and tool holders based on job requirements. Ensure tools are in good condition after each machine cycle and coordinate with set-up technicians when new tooling and/or adjustments to programs are required.
- Quality Assurance: Inspect machined parts using precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) to verify critical dimension accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Troubleshooting: Identify issues that arise during the machining process, such as tool wear, vibrations, or material defects. Promptly notifying set-up technician if any issues arise.
- Machine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on the CNC machine, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn-out or damaged components. Report any significant maintenance needs to supervisors or maintenance personnel.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of critical dimensions verification.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating the CNC Swiss machine. Follow company policies and industry regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve workflow and/or quality. Suggest initiatives to optimize daily operations.

Qualification Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in machining or lathe operations is preferred.
- Proven experience as a CNC Swiss Operator or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment (3+ years preferred).
- Basic knowledge of CNC Swiss machine operations.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and quality inspection techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy materials and stand for extended periods.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with other team members and departments.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols related to CNC machine operations.
