The Alexander Company has an opening for a Residential Property Accountant.

**Description**:
The Residential Property Accountant plays a critical role in managing financial operations for The Alexander Company’s residential properties. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. This position includes overseeing weekly financial transactions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and collaborating closely with operations to maintain and enhance fiscal integrity.

**Responsibilities**:

- Cut checks weekly
- Verify cash balances
- If negative cash balance, responsible for engaging asset manager to prioritize before checks are cut
- Provide weekly cash report to management
- Work closely with property management to ensure financial accuracy on a daily basis
- Producing residential financial statements
- Bank reconciliations
- Maintaining workpapers for each property
- Compare to budget for large discrepancies or missed timing
- Create monthly cash flow statement
- In charge of ensuring property management has approved expense codes before financials are finalized
- Distribute financial statements for management review
- Review and input budgets into accounting software
- Paying mortgages
- Includes funding reserve and insurance and tax escrows
- Calculate and enter management fees for properties

**Preferred Skills / Qualifications**:

- Associate or bachelor degree with 1-3 years professional experience in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
- Familiarity with basic accounting/financial vocabulary
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
