**Department Description**

Under direction of the Supervisor of Security Systems, the Lead Security Systems Maintenance Technician will assign service requests and work orders to the Security Systems Maintenance Technicians and monitor the status and completion of requests. The incumbent of this position will assist the Supervisor with providing guidance and oversight of security system technical personnel. The Lead Security Systems Maintenance Technician will have the responsibility for providing a wide range of services to the schools and central offices to ensure alarm systems and cameras are fully functional; this may include emergency communications when schools and offices are closed. The incumbent of this position is responsible for distribution of daily assignments and maintaining the overall objectives for the technical section, including assessing the needs for the work day, developing a work plan for the day and week, and implementing the processes and procedures for personnel in the unit.

**Detailed Description**

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Assists in the management of security system technical personnel, including the assignment of day to day service requests, monitoring scheduled assignments and conducting follow up audits and reviews of completed assignments;
- Manages the overall operations and services of security systems within the Office of Safety and Security, including the assignment of tasks and service requests;
- Coordinates the functions and activities related to the preventative maintenance of security systems;
- Oversees the analysis of all alarm records and security system data and reports;
- Handles service requests requiring a higher degree of knowledge and/or experience; including but not limited to program settings for cameras and doors, adding/removing equipment in the Genetec system;
- Schedules and implements maintenance of existing workstation and server installations and upgrading to new equipment and software;
- Participates in meetings related to security systems with vendors and outside entities;
- Meets with administrators to discuss breaking and entering and security problems; surveys building for requests of additional equipment;
- Reads and interprets wiring diagrams; tests circuits using a variety of standard and specialized test equipment;
- Responds to office or school sites as needed when equipment failure is indicated; performs preventive maintenance on equipment; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Ability to coordinate multiple functions simultaneously;
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with changing priorities;
- Ability to assess issues and develop resolutions;
- Ability to develop, implement and maintain a tracking system for work orders assigned;
- Thorough knowledge of security systems, their uses and maintenance and alarm monitoring;
- Good knowledge of electronics and electrical theory; ability to detect by inspection defects in equipment or systems and to make the proper adjustments and repairs;
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, test equipment and materials of the trade; and
- Manual dexterity and must be in good physical condition.

**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:
**CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS**:
Possession of an appropriate and valid Maryland motor Vehicle Operator's License with driving record indicating five (5) or fewer current points of which no more than three (3) shall have been accumulated as a result of traffic violations occurring while operating a Board of Education vehicle. (See Prince George's County Public Schools Bulletin A-26-85 dated October 8, 1984.)
