Location Description:
The Quadrangle Club is the faculty and social club of the University of Chicago. Established in 1893, the Quadrangle Club has played and continues to be an important role in the intellectual fabric and life of the University of Chicago. Over the decades, the Club has been a place where Nobel laureates, faculty and numerous other scholars have hosted discussions about topics and ideas that have shaped the world. The Club is housed in a historic facility designed by Howard Van Doren Shaw.

**BASIC FUNCTION**:
Servers ensure that our guests have an exceptional dining experience by attending

charismatic personality, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Servers focus on opportunities to enhance the guests’ event by their ability to create memorable and
personal experiences.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:
1. Adheres to the steps of service according to the service standards
2. Familiar with various styles of service, including European Family Style Service
3. Familiarizes him/herself with all menu items, wine and beverage lists
4. Set up for events to include setting silverware, folding napkins, preparing drinks, placement of center
pieces
- 5. Set up for AM or PM break stations that include coffee, tea, snacks, beverages, etc.
- 6. Assists as needed with event room setup according to meal period and table needs
- 7. Performs food & beverage preparation duties such as preparing condiments, brewing coffee and ensuring
- workstations are stocked
- 8. Ensures all opening, on-going and closing side work is complete and signed off by a manager on duty
- 9. Serves food and beverages to guests
- 10. Removes dishes, glasses, silverware or other items from tables/counter tops and takes them to the kitchen
- 11. Cleans and sanitizes tables and/or counters & seats after guests are finished
- 12. Answers questions relating to menus items
- 13. Explains how various menu items are prepared, cooking methods and ingredients
- 14. Takes into consideration any special request and dietary issues made by the guest
- 15. Provides general property information
- 16. Offers warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guests
- 17. Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all Forum amenities as well as any special events
- 18. Interacts with staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information
- 19. Ensures final quality check on food and beverage items prior to serving guests
- 20. Monitors assigned tables for customer satisfaction, quality and additional service
- 21. Addresses any guest issue promptly and with high concern
- 22. Provides assistance to other event and restaurant staff as needed
- 23. Maintains constant awareness of safety issues, (i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken
- locks and suspicious persons). Reports all safety incidents to on-duty supervisor
- 24. Acts with responsibility towards all company property, supplies and equipment
- 25. Maintains a professional appearance according to the dress code standards
