**About the Position**

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Oversee all aspects of the Collection Management and Scholarly Communications division of the Haverford College Libraries (6 FTE plus several student assistants). Functional areas include acquisition/licensing, cataloging/metadata, repository administration, and electronic resource management
- Develop collections budget forecasts and allocations, ensure efficient and proper expenditure of the collections budget, and work with the Librarian of the College on identifying resource needs for annual budgeting process
- Provide vision and leadership for the Libraries’ open access strategies, and provide support for open publishing among Haverford scholars
- Administer Haverford’s repository of faculty publications, develop best practices for identifying and ingesting content, and collaborate with campus colleagues to showcase faculty scholarship
- Serve as the Economics librarian, develop the Libraries’ collection in support of department’s curriculum and research interests, provide classroom and individual instruction to students, and work with faculty on development of student research skills throughout the curriculum
- As a member of the Libraries’ administrative team, participate in the management and operation of the Libraries
- Work closely with library counterparts at Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore Colleges, with particular emphasis on developing mutually-beneficial services for and approaches to collection management activities

**Line of Report**:The Associate College Librarian & Coordinator for Collection Management and Scholarly Communications reports to the Librarian of the College. This position directly supervises two exempt positions: Head of Acquisitions & Serials, and Head of Metadata Services & Visual Resources Librarian.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution
- 7 years of progressively responsible professional experience working in a collection management/technical services unit within an academic or research library

**Professional Competencies**
- Experience monitoring collections expenditures and generating budget reports and forecasts
- Experience with collection assessment and data-informed collection management strategies
- Thorough knowledge of trends in scholarly communications, especially open publishing, transformative agreements, Creative Commons licensing, funder mandates, and national/international Open Access initiatives
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, mature judgment, and initiative
- Understanding of and commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Strong service orientation
- Ability to foster teamwork and to work energetically, imaginatively, and respectfully with all constituents in an academically ambitious community
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate complex information effectively

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience querying data in an integrated library system, especially Ex Libris’ Alma
- Experience providing guidance to faculty and other campus constituents on intellectual property/copyright law
- Aptitude for quantitative data management, manipulation, and analysis, especially utilizing software such as Stata, R and Python
- Experience collaborating productively in a consortial environment
