**Summary**:
This position supports the Water SCADA system, a 24/7 real time operational control system, used by Water Transmission for the delivery of water from the dams throughout the valley canal system. Responsible for the skilled construction and maintenance of control system equipment throughout the water system and on the reservoirs. Requires working both independently and as part of a team to keep the system functioning reliably including occasional after hours support of system issues.
- **Must be available to work overtime and accept callouts.**

**What You'll Do**:

- Constructs, tests and installs control system panels/equipment for canal, pump, reservoir, weather station and water quality sites by reading and following print designs.
- Troubleshooting of electrical, control system, and communication issues on field equipment.
- Performs annual preventative maintenance on over 500 Water Group sites.
- Completes, redirects and orders materials through Maximo Work Orders.
- Programming and troubleshooting of PLCs using IsaGRAF, TelePACE and LoggerNet.
- Installation and configuration of various control equipment include flow meters, depth transducers, level transducers and data loggers.
- Programming and installation of local HMI systems connected at the sites to interface with control panels.
- Installation and configuration of network equipment such as Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco switches.
- Installation, configuration and maintenance of 4RF base and site radios to ensure reliable communication of system sites.
- Installation, configuration and maintenance of Campbell Scientific and Vaisala weather stations, loggers, and sensors.
- Communication of daily work activities including a daily status.
- Must be available to work overtime and accept callouts.

**Experience**:

- Prefer knowledge of communication protocols such as Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, DNP, and HART.
- Experience with water sensors such as radar, ultrasonics, level transducers, pressure transducers, floats, and flow meters is preferred.
- Experience with Wonderware HMI software or similar is desired.
- Prefer previous experience with IP networking communication, routing and configuration.
- Prefer experience working with gate actuators and deep well pumps.

**What It Takes To Succeed**:

- Knowledge of the principles of electrical and electronic theory specifically towards control systems.
- Knowledge and experience using electronic test equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings for site construction.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good time management and self-motivated.
- Understanding of the principles of communication networks.
- Understanding of RS-232/RS-485 Serial Communications.
- Understanding of solar panels and voltage regulators.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Communicates effectively with supervisor, peers and others.
- Ability to function efficiently both independently and together as a team member.

**Education**:

- Completion of an appropriate Apprenticeship
