**This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at La Jolla and remote.**

**DESCRIPTION**:
The vision of the Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI) is to translate scientific discoveries into improved health.

The ACTRI was established to provide education, training and infrastructure for clinical research in the San Diego area. It encompasses four hospital systems, two universities and four biomedical research organizations. It receives partial funding from a Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) from the NIH, National Center for Advancing Translational Science. Mike Hogarth, M.D. and Davey Smith M.D. are the primary investigators on ACTRI’s CTSA grant.

The Center for Community Health (CCH) focuses on improving community health and eliminating health disparities. Its integrated programs provide resources to address needs like food security and refugee health and develops best practices for implementation of community-based projects.

Under direction of the Director, the incumbent will support, oversee, and facilitate the Community Council working closely with various grant-funded projects within the Center for Community Health (CCH) including but not limited to the San Diego County Childhood Obesity Initiative (COI) and the Office of Minority Health Community Driven Approaches to Address Factors Contributing to Structural Racism in Public Health.

The Community Council was formed in 2022 to represent diverse community voices and center community power within community initiatives. It comprises a multicultural and mutliethinic group of trusted community leaders in their communities to bring their lived experiences and the community’s knowledge and perspective into CCH projects. The goal of the Community Council is to influence and develop systems and policies that are just, equitable, and humane that respect the dignity of our communities.

The incumbent will support the development, operation and administrative activities of the Community Council’s projects and programs that relate to community engagement, coalition building, and community-based policy and systems work. The incumbent will have broad responsibilities to provide planning and administrative support of the Community Council and will play a key role providing day-to-day operations. This will include serving as point of contact and maintaining effective communications and engagement with a diverse range of local, regional community and institutional partners to effectively support program activities, including coordinating meetings, representing the program locally, and supporting development of projects and work plans for the Community Council.

This position coordinates the dissemination of community education and engagement, capacity development, and assessment; coordinates activities with diverse coalition partners; manages long-range planning and establishment of goals and objectives for the Community Council; and assists in collaborative planning among and between partners. The incumbent is active in the development and implementation of practice dissemination. Responsible for gathering data and engaging the community in data collection to support Community Council reporting, presentations, and project budget. Updates their own knowledge of emerging trends to support the Community Council’s strategic engagements across CCH, grant-funded projects, ACTRI and the community.

Applies professional concepts to conduct analytical studies of moderate scope to support the Community Council to address a variety of policy, research and procedural issues within the unit. Primarily deals with policies, programs and proposals which are moderately complex in nature and in scope. Supports the development of new programs, policies or procedures for possible implementation. Participates as a members of the broader ACTRI/CCH team: attending staff meetings and providing administrative support for special events and projects as assigned. Other duties as assigned.
