**Part Time 15 Hours: Mondays 10:00am-6:00pm & Saturdays 9:00am-5:00pm**

The Deerfield Public Library is seeking a dedicated professional committed to delivering exceptional customer service to our patrons. The role of MakerSpace Assistant entails reporting to the MakerSpace Manager and ensuring a high level of satisfaction with all aspects of the MakerSpace, in alignment with the library's current policies and procedures. Collaboration with other departments is essential, supporting the library's mission and vision. The main focus of this position is to consistently and warmly assist patrons of all ages and abilities within the MakerSpace, fostering an environment conducive to learning and technological collaboration. Additional duties encompass the day-to-day operations of the MakerSpace, including equipment maintenance, organizing planned activities, providing instruction, and managing inventory.

**Essential Job Functions**:

- Design and plan diverse activities in the makerspace for patrons of all ages and abilities
- Train staff and patrons on and provide support for makerspace related equipment and activities
- Operate and maintain makerspace equipment
- Track and create reports based on makerspace usage, establish performance benchmarks, gather and analyze statistics
- Write procedure manuals and guidelines for makerspace equipment and activities
- Maintain inventory and supplies within the makerspace
- Works with the makerspace staff to assist in all aspects of the daily operation and use of the makerspace
- Assist library staff with planned programs including planning, setup and training.
- Handle money accurately, including collecting, counting, giving change and recording transactions
- Other duties and projects as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor Degree in related field or makerspace experience preferred
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Robust computer and technology skills, experience with MakerSpace technologies
- Knowledge of popular culture, technologies, and trends
