Autocad Drafter 1

Description:
The AutoCAD Drafter 1 is responsible for preparing drawings using AutoCAD software for sheet metal manufacturing projects. This position will mainly support the Mechanical Engineering team.

**Supervisory Responsibilities**:
None.

**Duties/Responsibilities**:

- Work with assigned project mechanical engineer to create drawing submittal packages to customer.
- Coordinate mechanical drawing layouts and notes with project engineer (both mechanical and electrical).
- Create and release structural fabrication drawings to the production floor.
- Create and release drawings of sheet metal parts to the production floor.
- Assist fabrication and production department personnel with design questions and issues with designs.
- Generate “As Built” drawings at the end of a project for customer records.
- Develop standard drawing details for engineering library.
- Serves as a backup to document control - releases engineering documents, archiving documents, and prepares submittal packets.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:
**Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**:

- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of creating structural fabrication drawings, designing sheet metal parts, and generating wall elevations and plan view drawings in 2D
- Extensive knowledge of CAD software, preferably AutoCAD.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)

**Experience/Education**:

- High school diploma required; Associates degree in Drafting preferred
- At least 3 years of experience using AutoCAD. Familiarity with SolidWorks is a plus.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse the production floor as needed.
