This position is a grade 9 with a minimum of $16.32 and a mid-point of $18.80. Hourly rate will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College’s compensation philosophy, and the current CBA, if applicable.

- An employee in this classification performs work of routine difficulty by providing child care services and completing required documentation. Work is distinguished by the ability to provide a safe environment. Work is performed under direct supervision of the manager and/or director.**Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Good knowledge of child development
- Working skills in child care
- Working skill in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access and Publisher
- Working skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
- Working skill in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Working skills in verbal and written communication.
- Working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required by the department’s needs.

**Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:

- Good knowledge of Department of Children and Family Services licensing standards and center policies.

**Essential Duties**:

- Establish and maintain direct supervision of the children to ensure a safe and developmentally appropriate environment at all times.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment to foster learning and development. Regularly clean and disinfect work surfaces and equipment.
- Provide routine care for children of different ages; feed, diaper, assist children in hand washing, administer first aid, and provide other care as needed.
- Assist the Lead Teacher in the regular documentation of children’s attendance, food intake and eating habits, medication distribution, fire/tornado drills, incidents and/or accidents, to establish a record of the children’s physical, social and cognitive development and progress.
- Assist in classroom and materials preparation.
- Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications
- Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
- Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
- Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
- Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.

**Other Duties**:

- Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
