**Responsibilities**:
General Westmark Faculty Responsibilities:

- Teach Theater arts classes to students with language-based learning differences.
- Have a high-level of understanding of special education terminology and research-based instruction.
- Submit weekly lesson plans.
- Integrate technology into the curriculum.
- Maintain the digital class LMS pages.
- Regularly update the grade book.
- Provide quick grading turnarounds for all students.
- Use behavior management systems that are effective with students with language-based learning differences.
- Provide a positive environment that encourages students to actively participate in their own learning.
- Communicate on a regular basis with Division Directors, department chair, and Advisors to discuss student progress.
- Model professional and ethical standards when interacting with students, parents, peers, and the community.
- Cultivate positive family partnerships.
- Participate fully in the life of the School, which includes collaborating effectively and collegially with a teaching team, grade-level, and department.
- Engage regularly in formal, ongoing professional development beyond school-based in-service.
- Support colleagues and the school by substituting for absent teachers when needed.
- Participate in meetings, committees, and community gatherings.
- Know, understand, and uphold the mission, philosophy, and values of the School. All teachers contribute to the School mission and community with activities such as supporting student social-emotional learning, interest groups/clubs, social events, and grade-level trips.

Theater Arts Instruction:

- Teach four sections total of Theater Arts (including technical theater) to Upper and Middle school students.
- Oversee the development of the Theater Arts program for Westmark.
- Plan and implement Fine Arts curriculum.
- Coordinate curricula with other department and grade-level teachers;
- Be a consummate professional who strives to bring the highest-quality theater direction and instruction to Westmark families.
- Participate in and attend all arts-based events, including the Arts Showcase.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.

After-School Theatrical Productions:

- Produce and direct three productions during the school year: Upper School Play in the fall, Middle School Play in the winter, and the Middle and Upper School Spring Musical (which may include evenings and weekends).
- Oversee all aspects of the artistic production of the organization, such as assessing and selecting the performances that will be shown.
- Recruit performers.
- Coordinate with the Director of Upper School to set show dates.
- Set production schedules.
- Manage budget.
- Host weekly production meetings.
- Obtain production rights to plays and musicals. Upon completion of the production, return scripts and librettos.
- Select, edit, cast, and direct performances.
- Hold rehearsals and evaluate student performances to ensure show quality by opening night.
- Work with non-performing students on other play production tasks, including set construction, scene changes, lighting, sound, and special effects.
- Assist backstage work and schedules during tech week and performances, e.g. costume changes, set, light and sound cues.
- Oversee costumes, sets, props, lights, sound, music, and choreography.
- Oversee any additional personnel who are brought in to help with the productions.
- Hire and oversee personnel.
- Collect invoices and deliver to the Controller.
- Conduct design meetings.
- Communicate tech schedule and coordinate set-up and breakdown of productions.
- Research and book off-site performance venues.
- Conduct parent meetings to inform of schedule and expectations.
- Communicate with parents surrounding auditions.
- Coordinate with parents to volunteer with snack donations for rehearsals.
- Work with vendors to support our productions with props, set, costumes, seating etc.
- Research different vendors to support the productions.
- Coordinate drop-off of items at School site.
- Coordinate pick-up of vendor items that may require driving off-site to pick up the item.
- Coordinate pick-up or drop-off of item after the show is finished.
- Coordinate with Payroll and Purchasing Coordinator regarding any purchases or receipts for productions.
- Coordinate drycleaning of all costumes when the production is finished.
- Coordinate with Facilities and other campus event-planning staff regarding tech and production schedule.
- Communicate to Facilities any guests who will be arriving to campus to support the productions.
- Coordinate with Executive Assistant to the Head of School concerning scheduled use of the theater space.
