The Mission of the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) is to protect and promote the health of all San Franciscans. SFDPH strives to achieve its mission through the work of two main Divisions - the San Francisco Health Network and Population Health. The San Francisco Health Network is the City’s only complete system of care and has locations throughout the City, including Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, Laguna Honda Hospital and Rehabilitation Center, and over 15 primary care health centers.

Under immediate supervision, a 2424 Diagnostic Imaging Assistant at the Department of Public Health performs a number of duties including assisting with diagnostic imaging procedures and image processing; assisting in transporting, and handling patients; assisting physician or diagnostic imaging technologists during examinations; keeping related files and records; and performs related duties as required.

The 2424 Diagnostic Imaging Assistant performs the following essential job functions:

- Assists with diagnostic imaging procedures and processing using digital equipment.
- Coordinates and transports patients for radiographic exams, manages transport slips, informs staff of patient arrivals/departures, monitors patients, and provides procedure information.
- Attaches and removes imaging equipment parts.
- Helps place and position patients on the table.
- Helps with various Diagnostic Imaging procedures.
- Cleans equipment and facilities, preparing the room for the next patient.
- Uses different systems to schedule appointments and register patients for various imaging tests like X-rays, ultrasounds, MRI, CT scans, fluoroscopy, mammograms, and interventional radiography procedures.
- Uses Picture Archiving Communication (PACS) to manage digital images, transferring information electronically and printing documents as needed.
- Records procedure information in computerized systems and logs.
- Assists with managing accounts payable, reconciliation, and office tasks.
- Teaches new staff and students safe lifting, ergonomics, and transport techniques.
- Answers calls on a multi-line phone, assists callers, and directs calls to the right places or people.
- Keeps units supplied with linens, checks stock levels, and handles dirty laundry disposal.
- Collects and delivers supplies, lab tests, and equipment within the hospital premises.

The 2424 Diagnostic Imaging Assistant also performs other related duties as assigned.
**Qualifications** Experience**:One (1) year of verifiable work experience involving public contact which includes six (6) months in a medical facility.

**Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.**

One-year full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week).

The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be the **Rule of 10 Scores.**
