- Maintenance - Full Time Year Round
- **Position Purpose**
Participate in the care and upkeep of all RSU 9 buildings and equipment. To provide a safe and clean learning environment enabling the students to take the fullest advantage of the district's total educational program. To respect the district and its personnel and represent it with the utmost professionalism. Under direct supervision of Maintenance Supervisor and/or Director of Operations and Maintenance.
- **Performance Responsibilities**
- Perform emergency repairs during the school day.
- Performs tasks to maintain buildings and grounds in safe and operable condition, such as making minor repairs to property as requested, with mínimal supervison.
- Inspects equipment and facilities, and recommends repair or replacement action to supervisor.
- Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical use of fuel, water, and electricity.
- Checks all building entrances/exits to ensure that they are working properly
- Maintains tools, parts, and equipment inventory in accordance with district policy
- Maintains motors and other mechanical equipment and ensures that such equipment receives scheduled servicing.
- Obtains equipment, tools and materials required for completion of assigned work.
- Become familiar with all emergency procedures of the buildings including valves, switches, and other building equipment.
- Offer input to the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Director of Operations with regards to materials, equipment, procedures, and maintenance needs.
- Prepares and maintains records to document work and repairs as requested, and in a timely manner.
- Keep the maintenance shop and maintenance vehicles in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion.
- Report any and ALL accidents no matter how small to the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Director of Operations and follow-up the verbal report with a written accident report.
- Be in uniform dress code all the days required in the Support Staff Contract.
- Follow all necessary requirements regarding time clock procedures.
- Participate in Driving Dynamics course as recommended by the state and required by the district.
- Must become CPR certified; and maintain certification throughout employment

**Additional Duties**
Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- **Equipment**
Uses hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including saws, drills, routers, planers, sanders, jointers, and stationary power equipment.
- **Qualifications**
- Knowledge of fundamental tools, materials, practices, maintenance, methods and procedures in the carpentry and plumbing trades.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical information.
- Knowledge of occupational safety and health laws and regulations.
- Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with others.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other employees. Be a team player.
- Self directed/motivated.
- Willingness to cross train to another position as needed.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.

**Safety Requirements**
- Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used.
- Wears appropriate safety gear.
- Know and understand the use of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Ability to work safely with chemicals and equipment.

**Travel Requirements**
Frequent travel between schools, or between schools and central offices, may be required.
- **Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards**
- Ability to withstand heights and work in crawl spaces.
- Typical risks associated with using tools of the trade.
- Occasional strenuous physical work.
- Occasional work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
- Physical ability required to lift 40 lbs.
- Proper ladder safety required; ability to climb and stand on ladders
- Physical ability to pull, push, and bend for extended periods of time.
- Must have passed a physical exam directed by state requirements and comply with stipulations recommended by the districts examining physician

- **Qualifications Profile**
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

- High School Diploma or GED Preferred
- Successful experience in building and grounds maintenance, and repair.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation.
