The Northern Moraine Wastewater Reclamation District has an immediate opening for a Temporary Laborer. This short-term position involves day-to-day material handling of equipment for maintenance purposes, such as cleaning, repairing, inspection, lubrication, adjustment, and other preventative maintenance of plant machinery. In addition, proper documentation and diagnoses of any operational problems and the ability to follow corrective, actionable procedures is a requirement. Skills in trade work such as carpentry, painting, plumbing, masonry, electrical, and/or related work are recommended. Starting range is $18.18 - 24.60 per hour, depending upon experience. This will be a short term assignment, and the position will not be assigned to work more than 1,000 hours for the calendar year 2024.

Applicants should have a High School or GED equivalent with the ability to read, write, and comprehend English to carry out both verbal and written instructions (operational, process, safety, and quality instruction). Other combinations of education, skills, experience, and certification may be considered. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.

In addition to basic mechanical maintenance and tasks, duties may also encompass maintenance and repairs to the District’s 2 MGD treatment plant and extensive collection system. Applicants should be comfortable working in a wastewater environment. Experience in wastewater treatment is not a necessity, but the applicant should be open to learning.

Applicant should be able to communicate with operations staff and show the ability to learn general operations and maintenance of the District’s treatment plant.
