**Job Summary**

**Position Description**

**Policy**: Serves as additional source of financial information for faculty, researchers, students, and staff members regarding travel reimbursement and accounts payable. Provides training in all financial systems to current and new staff. Guides faculty and staff on the proper use of university funds and financial policy. Contacts and explains to staff and faculty members about improper reimbursement requests. Is the primary contact for faculty, visitors, and staff regarding reimbursement financial policies.

**Transaction support**: Delegated to be primary contact and approver for Concur for all staff and faculty, including sponsored research funds. Assists faculty and staff with corporate card reconciliation. Documents and reviews PCard transactions for all department seminars and workshops. Serves as an approver for staff and faculty reimbursements for sponsored and non-sponsored funds in Web Voucher and Concur. Prepares journals for financial manager and faculty support staff. Processes payments for all vendor invoices including set-up in the accounts payable vendor database. Works with vendors to resolve payment issues. Creates requisitions in Buy2Pay for sponsored and non-sponsored funds.

**Payroll**: Serves as back up for primary payroll resource person, entering appointments in Aurora and PeopleSoft. Processes additional pay transactions for all faculty and staff.

**Reporting**: Runs general ledger reports in Oracle for all funds, reconciles funds and prepares ad hoc and scheduled financial reports for faculty as well as external sponsors. Uses Harvard's Grants Management Application Suite (GMAS) to track financial activities and reporting requirements on grants. Performs other duties as required.

**Basic Qualifications**

Three+ years of financial experience. Experience using Microsoft Excel in a reporting environment.

Must be a professional, proactive, collaborative, and conscientious individual. Additional competencies include:

- College background preferred with at least one to two years' office/financial experience in higher education helpful.
- Written and oral communication skills required.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to handle complex and confidential information with discretion.
- Experience with Oracle, Concur, GMAS, Peoplesoft helpful.
- Capacity to adjust to shifting priorities and to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills; accuracy and attention to detail essential.

**Work Format Details**
- This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
