**Vocational Services Specialists**

The Vocational Services Specialists will identify, develop, and maintain on campus and community job sites, and will be responsible for working with staff and on-campus supervisors to develop and maintain a quality job site.

**Job duties include**:
1. Based on the principles of Daily Life Therapy, assist in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) goals and objectives for employment education, integrating social and community goals within job sites.

2. Responsible for working with staff on identifying appropriate skills prerequisite for a job placement.

3. Work with the Master Teacher in identifying work sites for the students.

4. Contribute information to annual educational assessments based on daily observations and interactions in the areas of employment education and social skills.

5. Contribute to quarterly progress reports.

6. Participate in activities / lessons / job sites along with students, as a role model and motivator.

7. Responsible for serving as a contributing member with Employment Specialists on developing successful teaching strategies, as well as curriculum and program improvements in accordance with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and Daily Life Therapy.

8. Develop teaching materials and methods tailored to each student and job site.

9. Responsible for participating in team meetings for students when appropriate.

10. Responsible for developing a Professional Development Plan with the assistance of the Master Teacher.

11. Perform other reasonable tasks as assigned by the Master Teacher, Division Director and/or Principal.

12. Keep an open line of communication with residential instructors regarding students.

13. Attend all Boston Higashi School events and participate in assigned committees.

14. Attend division and / or closing meetings daily.

15. Complete all required staff training.

**Requirements and Qualifications**:
Employer requires a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Behavioral Sciences, Human Services, or a closely related field and at least one (1) year of experience in any occupation involving working with children with autism spectrum disorders. The employer also requires demonstrated knowledge of non-abusive psychological and physical intervention methodology gained through at least one (1) year of experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders. All years of experience may be gained concurrently.
