**Federal Correctional Complex - Lompoc**

FCC Lompoc is comprised of a two Low Facilities, and two Satellite Prison Camps, operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Lompoc, known as the “City of Flowers” is situated approximately 150 miles north of Los Angeles and 53 miles north of Santa Barbara, in the heart of California’s Central Coast. Lompoc lies along the Santa Ynez River in the coastal Lompoc Valley.

Clinical social work in the Federal Bureau of Prisons is a professional licensed discipline. Federal Bureau of Prisons Social Workers assist adults in custody who are experiencing medical illnesses, psychiatric disorders, complicated pregnancies, terminal illnesses, and life circumstance problems. Additionally, Social Workers serve the general population with child welfare issues, discharge planning and assistance, and in specialized programming, such as the Mental Health Step-Down Units.

Bureau social workers may perform the following functions, depending on the mission of the institution:

- Discharge planning for medical and psychiatric patients, as well as reentry services for general population adults in custody
- In accordance with USC Title 18, sections 4243 and 4246, arrange follow-up placement of long-term mentally ill in state hospitals or other appropriate facilities, and/or establish conditional release plans as ordered by the court
- Reduction in Sentence consultant or coordinator
- Assessments, diagnosis and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders and conditions. Treatment methods include the provision of individual and group counseling, psychotherapy and crisis intervention.
- Liaison between patient, family, and community in treatment planning during serious illness and aftercare planning to enhance continuity of care
- Assist with End-of-Life care such as advance directives and comfort care programs
- Assist in reporting suspected child abuse or adult abuse to the appropriate state or community resources
- Represent the Social Work discipline on institution committees
- Provide educational services in areas of expertise to employees, adults in custody, and local university students
- Advocacy for reasonable treatment of the intellectually, emotionally, or physically challenged adults in custody
- Medication for Opioid Use Disorder/Medication Assisted Treatment: (MOUD/MAT) discharge planning

**Minimum Qualifications**:
Education - Satisfactory completion of all the requirements for a master degree in Social Work.

**Age Requirement**:
At the time of appointment, applicants must not have reached their 40th birthday, unless they have previously served in a federal civilian law enforcement position covered by Special Service retirement provisions, including early or mandatory retirement.

**Salary**:
$72,054 - $92,972 per year
