Purchasing Agent

Job Summary:
The Purchasing Agent processes, researches, negotiates, and purchases materials for a fast-paced fire protection construction company. In this position, the Purchasing Agent will be able to issue and release Material Purchase Orders (PO). You will be responsible for monitoring the accuracy of inventory, to include on-hand balances, transactions, receiving, and reporting. Capable of investigating and reconciling inventory discrepancies. This position performs cradle-to-grave purchasing functions in compliance with company policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

- Purchases materials, supplies and inventory items following established guidelines and procedures set forth by management.
- Confirm and arrange for delivery of purchases and notify the project manager as to the expected delivery date.
- Research vendors and suppliers to ascertain most cost-efficient source of supplies.
- Request pricing for materials from vendors frequently. Handle negotiations with vendors, as needed or requested by management, regarding price points of supplies.
- Complete purchase orders using designated software as required.
- Coordinate small projects as directed by management.

Job Requirements:

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory management software preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- At least 2 years of prior experience in a purchasing role for a commercial construction company, previous experience in the fire sprinkler industry a plus.
- Good time management skills.
- Capable of staying within a given budget.
- Must exhibit a high level of motivation, organization, strong attention to detail and have an energetic approach to job duties.
