**Walpole Public Schools is seeking a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Director for the 2024-2025 school year.**

The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is a Human Resources (HR) professional who leads the development and implementation of programs and services that promote diversity and inclusion within an organization. The duties of this position include:

- Guide the district in its efforts to provide and build safe, welcoming, and affirming spaces for all students, staff, families, caregivers and community members, mindful of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, primary language, sexual identity or orientation, ability or disability, country of origin, or any other identity category or characteristics.
- Support and guide the work and the critical self-examination necessary to allow for sustained and systemic improvements throughout the district
- Collaborate with school leadership to ensure adherence to the goals of the strategic plan and work closely with the Assistant Superintendent to create staff PD to build positive school climates, support diversity initiatives and programs, and develop strategies to support historically marginalized people.

Collaborate with the Curriculum Teams and Director of Student Services to ensure staff are trained to identify bias in curriculum materials and classroom resources._
- Provide consultation services to district principals and supervisors
- Oversee the METCO Program in conjunction with the METCO Director

**Family and Community Engagement**:

- Develop strong and substantive relationships with families in conjunction with and service of equity and inclusion.
- Develop and implement programmatic feedback and monitoring mechanisms that engage and capture the voices of families.
- Act as a liaison between WPS and outside agencies (Walpole Police Department, local religious organizations, etc.) to support equity and inclusion.

**Oversight of District Efforts to Improve Diversity, Equity and Inclusion**
- Evaluate existing programs and practices to identify gaps and opportunities for growth in supporting diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the district.
- Lead the development of programs and practices to support and enhance diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the district
- Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure effective recruitment, hiring, retention, and support processes for educators and staff who identify within marginalized populations.

- Strong management skills
- Ability to manage relationships throughout the organization, coordinating time and resources according to shifting priorities.
- Demonstrated experience translating vision into strategy
- Experience leveraging data and analytics to develop insights and drive decision-making
- Enjoy problem-solving and taking on challenges
- Strong written and/or verbal communication skills
- Project development and oversight
- All employees must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems for communication and administrative purposes
- This position would also maintain effective professional networks through appropriate memberships with leading and contributing organizations within the field of DEI.
- Appropriate educational Massachusetts licensure preferred (i.e. teaching, counseling, administrative, etc.)

This position reports to the Superintendent or Designee.
