Professional Dog Groomer

Dogtopia, the industry leader in dog daycare, boarding, and spa services has an immediate opening for an energetic, organized, self-motivated, hard-working individual to build our grooming service to complement our day care service in Davis, CA. This person **MUST LOVE DOGS **... and _**MUST HAVE one year's experience as a professional dog groomer**_ (This is not a training opportunity.)

**Day-to-Day Responsibililties**:

- Welcome Dogtopians for drop off and pick up of their dogs
- Cultivating an outstanding Dogtopia experience — provide dog parents with professional advice and education for caring for their dog
- Professionally perform grooming services including bathing, brushing, drying, ear and teeth cleaning, expression of anal glands, & trimming nails
- Gently detangle or remove matted fur with patience and customer approval
- Follow owner’s instructions and/or breed profiles/standards when clipping or trimming a dog’s coat
- Keep the spa impeccably clean and organized
- Maintain records of grooming treatments and other pet information
- Must be responsible with grooming equipment and tools including clippers and shears
- Manage your own schedule and appointments, make reminder calls, greet customers upon arrival, and discuss services with the clients
- Ensure the safety and well-being of dogs
- Utilize equipment and materials properly
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with pet owners, responds promptly to customer needs, welcomes customer feedback to improve service, and responds to all requests for service

**Requirements**:

- Have strong knowledge of breed standards
- Excellent scissoring techniques
- Strong communication skills to ensure excellent customer service and satisfaction
- Ability to handle small and large dogs
- Work in a standing position for long periods of time
- Reach, bend, stoop, and lift 50 pounds
- Attentive to details
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment

**Schedule**:
This position will start part-time and hours may increase as we build the business. We may be flexible on days of the week in which you work.
- Weekdays
- Weekends as needed

**Pay**:
$17-18 per hour plus commission and tips
