Transportation Analyst
**Department**: Department of Transportation - Directors Office
Full-time, Hybrid
**Annual Salary Range**: $62,836.80 - $72,779.20/yr

Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Transportation and Deputy Director, this position will provide research and analytical support including transportation best management practices. This position will also be responsible for data collection and data analysis to further drive a performance-based management framework within the Department of Transportation. This position will also have the opportunity to research new programs and changes in local, state and federal regulations that affect Department of Transportation operations.

**Work Schedule**: Employee must have availability to work overtime, weekends and shift rotations as needed.

Job Responsibilities
- Transportation Policy Research - Research the impacts of transportation regulatory and programmatic changes across all Department of Transportation operations and divisions. Conduct reviews of traffic impact studies and traffic safety analyses. Assist the department in reviewing preliminary and final engineering roadway plans.
- Data Analysis - Use data collected to measure, analyze, and forecast indicators of performance such as quality, quantity, and efficiency of programs and services. Analyze, research, or investigate using reasonable judgment to draw conclusions, evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations to address transportation and traffic operational and traffic/transit/bicycle/pedestrian safety issues and concerns. Create and maintain a standardized, sustainable department-wide data framework for ongoing performance management use.
- Data Collection - Performs data collection and coordination activities in support of department programs, projects, and studies. Assist the department with project management, including transportation master plans, traffic calming studies, traffic monitoring and management services, transit planning studies, bicycle and pedestrian safety studies, mobility/multi-modal studies, and conducting transportation surveys.
- Report Development - Write and present issue papers and impact analysis reports. This would include recommendations for changes within department programs that may be necessary to maintain local, state, or federal compliance and use of outcomes from data analysis to facilitate program improvements.
- Correspondence - Correspond with stakeholders and County residents regarding department related projects.
- Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 20 lbs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, License/Certification and Experience
- Current residency within the State of Wisconsin required.
- Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License required and must be maintained throughout employment.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or closely related field required.
- At least two (2) years or more of work experience in a closely related field required.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required.
