Amida is currently looking for a **Technical Writer** to join our team in Washington, D.C. The Technical Writer will produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our projects. This individual will develop a thorough understanding of one or more of our customer-facing projects and will compose clear and coherent project documentation (status reports, detailed analysis, training manuals, etc.) for our customers. The Technical Writer will work collaboratively with developers, analysts, and other stakeholders to document project details and technical methodologies, and to produce other relevant collateral.

**What You Will Do**:

- Assist in writing and/or editing technical documents, including business proposals, reports, user manuals, briefings and presentations, functional descriptions, system specifications, guidelines, special reports, and other project deliverables to meet contract requirements
- Translate complex topics into easily digestible and understandable content
- Develop outlines and drafts for review and approval by technical specialists and project management, ensuring that final documents meet applicable contract requirements and regulations
- Research and gather technical and background information for inclusion in project documentation and deliverables
- Consult relevant information sources (including library resources, technical and financial documents, and client and project personnel) to obtain background information and verify pertinent guidelines and regulations governing project deliverables
- Edit white papers, business development materials, marketing collateral, customer-facing deliverables, and internal documents, reviewing materials for proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, and style
- Create and format tables, graphs, and templates, as needed
- Conduct quality assurance for assigned materials to ensure that Amida's standard of excellence is achieved

**Required Skills**:

- Bachelor's degree, preferably in English, communications, or technology
- 3 years of experience in technical writing
- Extremely detail-oriented
- Experience writing proposals
- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
- Excellent written skills in English; strong interpersonal communication skills
- Must possess the ability to work well in a diverse environment
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time-management skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a positive contributor/member of a team
- Ability to work well under time pressure
- Must submit two writing samples of original work that have not been subsequently edited by others
- Must complete a short writing/editing assignment to test relevant skills
