**GENERAL DESCRIPTION**:
Under the supervision of the Health Specialist the Perinatal Home Visitor is responsible for the provision of services to Pregnant Women and Expectant Families, ensuring compliance with all related Performance Standards. The Perinatal Home Visitor is also responsible for recruitment and enrollment of Pregnant Women and Expectant Families.

Neighborhood House Association Head Start/Child Development Program of San Diego County (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services)

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:
1. Recruit and enroll eligible pregnant women and expectant families; into the program. Require flexible work hours, some evenings and weekend work is expected for home

visits and recruitment purposes. Maintain full enrollment at all times.

2. Coordinate health and pregnancy related trainings and seminars for pregnant women and new mothers.

3. Work closely with entire family to ensure that the newborn child enters a safe and nurturing home.

4. Coordinate socialization activities in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards.

5. Contact clients once a week and conduct at least two home visits per month with enrolled clients.

6. Facilitate the transition process from the Perinatal Home Visitor option to Early Head Start or other community childcare settings.

7. Attend parent, staff meetings and training as assigned.

8. Serve as a liaison and promote effective relationships between the program and the community.

9. Assist families in receiving emergency and other assistance services.

10. Maintain and enhance professional competence through participation in professional organizations and other activities on a voluntary or assigned basis.

11. Assume responsibility for parent involvement as appropriate.

12. Maintain accurate, current and follow-up documentation on recruitment, enrollment, referrals, health and social services and other information related to the children and families.

13. Coordinate statistics to ensure accurate completion of monthly reports.

14. Work cooperatively with the Supervisor and all other staff to coordinate responsibilities and activities.

15. Attend not less than 15 clock hours of professional development per year.
