Laboratory Technician

EMSL is seeking a **Laboratory Technician (Chemistry) **in **Carle Place, NY. **The technician supports the laboratory analysts by preparing samples for analysis. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.
**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
Preparation and digestion of environmental lead samples: paint, soil, wipes and cassettes by Flame AA
Preparation and analysis of samples using ICP
Knowledge of laboratory safety and maintaining proper QC protocols
Cleaning and Maintenance of lab equipment
Other laboratory and clerical duties such as waste disposal, answering phones, filing, scanning, copying, may be assigned by lab staff and manager as needed

**Requirements**:
Bachelor's Degree in Science a plus, chemistry preferred
One to two years’ of previous academic or commercial lab experience a plus
Academic experience with Flame AA and/or ICP a plus
Ability to work independently and with a team
Ability to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments
Must have good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills

**Available Shifts**:
Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Training Shift to start will be Monday to Friday 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Every weekend
