**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The Dispatcher reports to the Dispatch Supervisor and is responsible for ensuring that all work assignments and collections are performed in accordance with policies and standards. This position works closely with supervisors to prepare and manage driver work schedules to ensure compliance with DOT regulations, make sure daily assignments are completed and that schedule inconsistencies are reported to supervisors in a timely manner.

**CORE RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Communicates job assignments to drivers.
- Prioritize trucking work assignments and schedules, and ensures service that is safe, on-time, and efficient.
- Work with supervisors and maintenance personnel to ensure requisite equipment, primary and back-up, is available to perform work assignments.
- Utilize route data management procedures and technologies to provide drivers with route information and ensure collection of the associated route data.
- Provide drivers, co-workers, and customers with support prior to, during, and after route completion.
- De-brief all drivers at the conclusion of their route to verify that required route data is present and accurate in accordance with Company and DOT standards, as needed.
- Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers as required to proactively address existing or potential service-related issues.
- Coordinate with appropriate personnel in order to ensure that any underutilized, or unutilized, Company driver and truck resources are identified.
- Coordinate with driver supervisors to help ensure that drivers perform in accordance with Company and DOT standards.
- Coordinate with appropriate personnel to ensure Dispatch department is meeting customer and Company needs.
- Other duties as assigned.

**REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS**
- High school diploma or equivalent and two years of customer service and/or waste industry experience;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to use common office equipment - i.e. phones, radio systems;
- Proficiency with using internet mapping programs;
- Must have basic math skills;
- Ability to achieve proficiency with routing software used by TDS dispatchers;
- Ability to effectively and fluently communicate in English in both written and verbal form;
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format
- Problem-solving ability;
- Knowledge of safety practices, accident management and commercial driver’s license regulations.
