**Certifying Scientist, LCMS General Supervisor**

Job Title:
**Certifying Scientist/LCMS General Supervisor** for Physician Office Lab

**Location**:
**Allentown, PA**.

We will prefer someone who has:
Working knowledge of the liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS)
- Operating and troubleshooting LC MS instruments, doing quantitative analysis of urine specimens
- Experience and expertise in sample accessioning, liquid liquid extraction, data analysis and releasing results of patient specimens.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS), quality control procedures, troubleshooting problems.
- Good documentation practices
- Experience in implementation and following the policies and procedures of CLIA, COLA, and other accreditation organizations is required.

**Responsibilities and Knowledge includes but not limited to**:

- General understanding of LC/MS instrument theory and mechanics of operation.
- Integration of LC/MS equipment with LIMS, printers, and other devices.
- Knowledge of sample accessioning, barcoding, and tracking practices.
- Knowledge of sample preparation practices for LC/MS, including sample dilution, filtration, or concentration as needed.
- Knowledge of the chemicals, reagents, calibrators, standards, supplies, and disposables needed for sample processing.
- Proper storage of chemicals and disposal of waste chemicals.
- Laboratory and personnel safety when operating LC/MS equipment.
- Instrument calibration, review of calibration data, storage of data calibration, and procedures for resolving failed calibrations.

The position also assists with other laboratory duties and responsibilities as needed.
- Analyzing chromatography and quantitative analysis.
- Working independently as well as with others.
- Troubleshooting instruments.
- Prioritizing work to meet deadlines with direction from supervisor.
- Method Validation (when needed).
- Participating in the instruction and training of others.
- Managing the time management and workflow needs of the laboratory department.
- Preparing mobile phase and running daily calibrators.
- Performing other laboratory functions such as maintain laboratory records, quality control charts, maintenance logs and various logs as needed.
- Handling, reviewing, and clearing pending logs.
- Liaising LC/MS technical service to resolve problems.
- Completion of written competency tests.
- Daily, Weekly, Monthly maintenance procedures.
- Using instrument error codes to resolve problems.
- Signing for and receiving shipments, supplies, samples, etc., as needed.
- Any other duties as assigned by the management/Lab Director.

**Mandatory** **Education and Experience**
- B.S. or B.A. degree and have had at least 6 years’ experience in a clinical laboratory _or _a M.A. or M.S. degree have had at least 4 years’ experience in a clinical laboratory _or_ a doctoral degree and have at least 2 years’ experience in a clinical laboratory.
- 2 years prior LCMS certifying science experience.

**Compensation/Shift/Benefits**:

- Compensation commensurate with education/experience.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
