Smyth Industries Welding/ Fabrication Division is currently searching for an individual with Water Infrastructure Industry experience as a **Welding/Fabrication Technician** to help enhance our current team. We provide full-service electrical, civil, manufacturing, engineering and general contracting services for the water and reclamation industry.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- Exhibit technical knowledge and experience in the welding and fabrication trade experience.
- Provide effective project communication, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to understand and work from shop drawings.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment and work with other divisions.
- Complete nonroutine task as assigned.
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order.
- Perform skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled laboring duties related to installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of welding and fabrication tasks.
- Reassemble equipment, using hand tools.
- Ability to select tools to complete daily job tasks.
- Proficient in the use of basic hand tools to perform daily job functions: screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, cordless drills, hand operated saw, level, grinders, etc.
- Fabricating water tanks in the field or shop using common arc welding techniques such as tig, arc, mig, spray transfer, and spot.
- General site clean-up, digging trenches, staging material, or all other duties as assigned.

**People**
- Mentor field staff to develop ways to more efficiently complete assigned tasks while building a strong team environment.
- Develop a team relationship with other divisions sharing resources to successfully complete projects on time and under budget.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, inspectors, etc., providing customer service to develop long-term partnerships with client base and stakeholders.
- Mentor field staff to develop ways to more efficiently complete assigned tasks while building a strong team environment.
- Develop a team relationship with other divisions.
- Ability to lead a team, complete project assigned tasks, while working under mínimal supervision

**Minimum Qualifications**
- 1-4 years of welding and fabrication experience.
- Maintain the appropriate certification for the specific welding techniques required for the job used in the field or shop (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G or 6G).
- Proficient in all the following tasks: tank layout, installing tank appurtenances, welded pipe field connections, etc.
- Knowledgeable in the following welding techniques and use of machines: tig, arc, mig, spray transfer, and spot
- Knowledgeable in the use of common metal fabrication equipment i.e.: rollers, man lifts, telehandlers, jacks, come along, porta power, dolly, crane, press brake, etc.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Self-motivated, task-oriented, leader
- Required to possess a valid driver's license and legally be able to operate a company vehicle.
- Required to pass a preemployment drug screening.
- Must be able to physically perform all required duties which may include bending, lifting 50-pound objects, carrying 50-pound items, squatting, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, working outdoors most of the time, or standing for prolonged periods of time.
