Swim Instructor

Reports to General Manager/Assistant General Manager

**Description**: SafeSplash Swim Instructors are responsible for upholding and teaching in accordance to the SafeSplash Swim School teaching curriculum.

**Responsibilities**: The main focus of a swim instructor is to teach swimming skills in accordance to SafeSplash curriculum in a fun, positive manner.

Other Duties Performed: As assigned by management.

**Requirements**: Competitive Swimming Experience, Previous swim instructor experience, current American Red Cross CPR-PR/AED, First Aid for Adult, Child and Infant. Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds in weight.

**Requirements**: Life Guard Certification required within first 90 days of employment if not already current. SafeSplash will subsidize the cost of class as long as employee remains employed with SafeSplash for 12 months. Must complete training in the SafeSplash curriculum within the first 30 days of employment.

**Requirements**: Complete Instructor Training via online portal. Complete Abuse Prevention Training before instructing begins

**Uniforms**:Instructors are required to wear SafeSplash uniforms which include logoed female one-piece suits, male board shorts, and swim shirts**. SafeSplash Swim School will cover 50% of the cost of one uniform per calendar year per employee. Additional uniforms must be purchased by the employee from SafeSplash Swim School at or below cost. The uniform must be maintained in a clean, professional manner. If at any time a Supervisor determines an employee’s uniform is inappropriate, he/she may require the employee to purchase an additional uniform. If at any time a uniform is not being worn during assigned instructing hours a supervisor will ask you to put on your uniform. If no uniform is present you will be required to buy a new uniform or be sent home without pay.

**Hours**: Weekday afternoons (2:30 to 7:00); Saturday and Sunday Mornings (10 to 3 pm)

**Experience**:

- Lifeguarding: 2 years (preferred)
- Swimming Instructor: 2 years (preferred)
- Competitive Swimming: 3 years (preferred)

**Position Qualifications and Requirements**:

- Previous 2 years of aquatic swim instruction experience is required
- Current American Red Cross CPR-PR/AED, First Aid for Adult, Child and Infant required (training can be provided)
- WSI certification preferred, but not required as we will train you on our swim curriculum
- Special consideration given to instructors with experience teaching children aged 6 months to 10 years and coaching Special Needs
- Training in the SafeSplash swim curriculum will be provided
- Employee must complete the SafeSplash Certified Instructor program once hired
