PLAYGROUND MONITOR // NOON DUTY SUPERVISOR

DEFINITION:
Under supervision of certificated personnel, supervises students during breakfast and/or lunch periods in the cafeteria or on the playground; assists in enforcing school rules and regulations.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Supervises students during breakfast and/or lunch periods in the cafeteria, restrooms and on the school grounds, cleans tables, collects lunch tickets, serves milk, directs children to seats. Makes sure children are in line for the teacher, organizes and officiates team sports during the lunch period; reports special behavior problems, encourages and promotes courtesy among students; observes that safety rules are obeyed; prevents unauthorized persons from loitering on the school campus; calls for assistance of authorized personnel in the event of an emergency; performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Good general background and training and some experience in dealing with elementary school age children. Knowledge of basic principles of First-Aid, standards of courtesy to be observed by school children; ability to supervise elementary school age children at lunch and at play; ability to follow district policies and procedures; maintain interest, order and discipline, among children; maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with teachers, staff and students.

EDUCATION: Graduation from high school or equivalent.

**PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS**

Standing, sitting, walking level surface, reaching, bending, use of both legs, fine coordination, wrist/arm motion, grasping/holding, use of all fingers, use of both hands, regularly lift 1-15 pounds, occasionally lift 40 pounds and up, and regularly carry/push 1-15 pounds, occasionally carry/push 40 pounds and up, color vision, near vision, use of both eyes, sense of smell, normal hearing, distinguish sounds in transmission, and speaking.

Stress of emergencies, normal work standards stress, ability to work with interruption, concentrate for long periods of time, reading, and interpreting policy. Perform routine math process, memorize and recall objects, people, analyze problems and generate alternatives.

Occasional exposure to sun, occasional wetness, medical supplies, irregular hours, exposure to childhood disease.

SALARY: Range 8

WORK YEAR: 10 months
