About Ace Hardware Stores, Inc. was incorporated in Tucson, Arizona in 1962, as the first Ace Hardware Store in the State of Arizona. We are both locally owned and managed, and also an affiliate of the Ace Hardware co-operative; comprised of over 5,000 stores in the U.S. and over 500 retail stores in 70 countries around the world. We are proud to be part of the Tucson community for the past 56 years, and to have served three generations of Tucsonans. We have seven locations across Tucson, from Downtown on the West to the far Southeast side.

Ace Hardware Stores, Inc. offers pay from $14 - $20 per hour DOE and a benefits package consisting of: Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401K with match eligibility.

Position Summary

The primary responsibilities of the Cashier position are to maintain helpful customer service, process sales quickly, accurately, and efficiently, and cash register operations.

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Customer Service:

- Project a positive, friendly representation while working well with customers and associates
- Ensure each customer receives outstanding service which follows the S.A.L.E.S process and by mystery shop standards
- Greet customers as they enter the store
- Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly, courteously and effectively
- Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently
- Communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance

Register Operations:

- Maintain awareness of all promotions and advertisements
- Accurately and efficiently ring on registers and maintain all cash at registers
- Maintain orderly appearance of register area and supplies stocked
- Issuing receipts, refunds, credits or change due to customers

Front End Appearance and Upkeep
- Keep the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors near and clean at all times. Face and dust front end
- Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store management

Minimum Requirements

The minimum requirements for this position include the following:

- Education/Training: High School degree, some college preferred
- Experience in a retail environment either in cashier, sales, or back office
- A commitment to service, excellence and customer satisfaction
- Skills/Knowledge: Ability to process information and/or merchandise through register system
- Ability to communicate with associates and customers
- Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills with a strong willingness to learn
- Knowledge of retail computer systems, electronic cash registers, MS Word, and Excel a plus
- Exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the business

Physical Requirements

The minimum physical requirements for this position include:

- Ability to stand for an extended period of time
- Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and perform all functions as set forth
