**June 2024, $50-$58,000 salary based on experience.**
**Purpose**: The primary responsibility of the Director is the management of the Program and the consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives.

**Minimum requirements**:
Twenty-one years of age

The program director of a program licensed to serve thirteen (13) to fifty-nine (59) children shall be qualified as a teacher associate, and shall have completed either:

- A Vermont Early Childhood and afterschool Program Director Step One (1) Certificate;
- Or Successful completion of a three (3) college credit course in program management for early care and education or for school age care and education, or in staff supervision related to early care and education of children;
- And a three (3) college credit course in curriculum.
- And shall complete within one (1) year of employment start date a three (3) college credit course in managing an early care and education program that includes budgeting and financial management

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Assures the organization has a long-range strategy which achieves its mission and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress. This is done in consultation with the Head of School of Bridge School and the Board.
- Provides leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with Bridge School Head of School and staff and carries out plans and policies authorized by the Board.
- Works collaboratively with the Bridge School’s bookkeeper to ensure that a timely flow of information and financial record keeping is maintained.
- Works with the Board on the development of the Program’s budget.
- Researches, submits and oversees grants that support the mission of the Program.
- Maintains licensure and ensures Program’s participation in the STARS program.
- Responsible for the recruitment, employment and release of all personnel following procedures outlined in the Personnel Policies.
- Updates Personnel Policies with Bridge Head of School as needed.
- Responsible for job descriptions, regular performance evaluations and that sound human resources are in place.
- Provides direct supervision of staff.
- Facilitates staff professional development and education, directing employees toward desired objectives.
- Maintains a climate that attracts, keeps and motivates a staff of top-quality teachers.
- Conducts regular staff meetings and develops clear communication and team building among staff.
- Works with staff to coordinate schedule of work hours and vacation to best meet the needs of the Program.
- Orients new families to the Program.
- Maintains the waiting list in conjunction with the Bridges School’s office administrator.
- Provides parent support and problem solving.
- Works with families for the smooth transition of the children both into the program and onto their next placement.
- Coordinates with families any specialized services that may be required.
- Collects, records and files all necessary immunization forms with the Department of Health in conjunction with the Bridge School’s office administrator.
- Coordinates family events.
- Coordinates compilation and distribution of the Program’s newsletter.
- Develops an atmosphere of support for the Program within the greater Middlebury area.
- Actively participates in the county and state early childhood community.
- Advocates for early childhood services as well as services for children and families.
- Maintains a working knowledge of significant developments in the field of early childhood education.
- Continually seeks understanding and knowledge of best practice regarding preschoolers.
- Attends professional development trainings in areas of supervision, management and early childhood.
- With staff, ensures that curriculum is planned, developed and implemented according to best practice, VELS, and licensing requirements.
- Investigates, proposes and helps develop new and imaginative curriculum within the program.
- Encourages and supports training opportunities for staff.
