Youth Leader

**Description**

Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church (ECRC) is looking for a passionate and energetic leader to walk alongside our high school and middle school youth and provide visionary leadership to a team of volunteers. The Youth Coordinator will partner with the church and Young Life in making disciples, engaging students with the person of Jesus and the Gospel, and walking alongside them as they work out their faith.

As the church’s Youth Coordinator, this person will introduce young people to Jesus by actively building authentic relationships and showing up in their lives, earning the right to be heard. You’ll build an environment where youth feel they belong, walking alongside them to grow in their own personal relationship with Jesus.

**Responsibilities**

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

- Lead the Youth Ministry for senior high and middle school students, managing worship, education, spiritual development, mission, belonging, encouragement, and emotional support
- Build authentic relationships with all students, showing up by practicing the ministry of presence, demonstrating that they are valued and loved focused primarily on the girls
- Oversee youth-related events at the church
- Provide meaningful outings and summer camp experiences
- Recruit, train, encourage, and guide a group of volunteer leaders to walk alongside the coordinator in serving the youth
- Provide individual care: nurturing students emotionally, mentally, and spiritually
- Practice a ministry of presence, letting students know that they are valued and loved
- Maintain an open dialogue and effective communication with parents
- Develop an annual personal growth plan of solitude, prayer, sabbath rest, and a sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word
- Participate with Young Life in relational opportunities for students in order to provide a pathway to meaningful connection for students in a church.
- Attend Young Life trainings

**Qualifications**
- A deep love for Jesus and a calling to work with Elmhurst CRC’s youth
- A passion for working with young people, furthering their personal faith journey
- Strong Christian faith, knowledge of the Bible, and a desire to introduce students to Jesus
- Willingness to actively participate in the lives of students by showing up in their lives, attending sporting events, school events, social events, etc.
- Gifts of service, leadership, administration, and creativity
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or experience in youth ministry

**Work Expectations**
- Full-time, exempt
- Weekday schedule is flexible; Sunday/weekend/evening work expected
- Regular Sunday church attendance at Elmhurst CRC

Pay: $43,000.00 - $53,000.00 per year
