Staff Geoscientist

Job Summary
The Staff Geoscientist will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.
**Responsibilities**:
Possess an understanding of the GOM regulatory process and requirements
Seismic interpretation to generate and mature exploration concepts
Demonstrated ability to document results, construct a story, and develop a concise supporting presentation to clearly communicate a recommendation to Senior Management
Analyze Hydrocarbon systems
Prospect evaluation and development
Identify data/product for purchase, QA/QC during vendor projects
Proficient in well-ties and ability to perform AVO analysis for GOM prospects
Present Murphy farm-in opportunities to other companies, review other company farm-out opportunities, project related interactions with partner companies
Collaboration, technical discussions, project peer assists/reviews, and mentoring/coaching
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geophysics
Minimum 10 years’ experience in exploration in the GOM
Expert understanding of geophysical techniques including seismic acquisition, seismic processing, and AVO analysis
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Geology or Geophysics and minimum 10 years’ experience in exploration in the GOM
